The past two days our team has been busy packing up and settling into our new bungalow in central Austin’s Rosedale neighborhood. We have been so focused on the excitement, anticipation, and stress of moving, that we thought it would be a fun post, in the midst of the move, to look back the previous spaces we have called home over the past 11 years.
New Studio in Rosedale: Officially Opening January 2, 2018
Built in 1952, our new space is in wonderful shape, but we did make a few necessary cosmetic changes like fresh paint and bathroom updates before we moved in. We promise to give you a full studio tour as soon as we are more settled, but here is the front view of our bungalow.
We painted the door in Farrow & Ball Green Blue. It is a fresh, happy paint color that will give our clients and customers an inviting welcome. A pair of planters in a similar paint tone frame the walkway and bring even more joyful color to our front entry.
Burnet Road: 2013-2017
When we moved to our Burnet Road location in 2013, we transformed an old automotive repair shop into a dual retail and design studio to fit our growing team and business needs.
Here is the before photo of what our space looked like before the renovation.

If you have never seen before photos it is hard to appreciate the drastic transformation of our Burnet office. We can’t help but think of the quote “to leave the world a bit better than you found it” when we think of this space. We can definitely look back and feel a sense of pride that we left the corner of Burnet & Braker a better, more stylish place, than we found it.
Arboretum: 2006-2012
We first opened in the Arboretum. It was a vibrant, high-traffic shopping space, perfect for a brand new business. We opened the retail shop thinking we would occasionally see a few people interested in design services. Design services rapidly became a full time business that required a working space larger than the closet in the back that housed Heather’s first desk.
When our lease expired in the Arboretum, we were desperate for a larger home for our growing team. Being in the business of making places look good, we were able to see the potential the Auto repair shop based solely on its location across the street from the Domain.
Since our business opened more than a decade ago, we have been in three different locations and each location has been the perfect fit for the stage and focus of our company. A high-traffic retail space, a renovated corner lot, and now a cozy bungalow are a fitting progression of our business and brand.
We cannot wait to embark on our 12th year of business in a fresh new space. Thank you to all of our longtime clients and customers that have been with us since the start!
Dear Scott and Heather,
We are thrilled about your new location and all the success it represents! We remember 10 years ago when we were new to Texas and met you in the Arboretum space. We recognized then the quality and creativity you were bringing to the community. It was a cut above the rest and that continues today.
We have followed you with interest for ten years and now sincerely wish you continued success as you embark on this new season for HeatherScott Home.
Blessings to you both!
Craig and Mary Beth Applefield
Thanks so much Craig & Mary Beth! You were a great support for us since day 1! We really appreciate you both!
