Inside a Family Room With Homework Nook
June 13, 2025 in Interior Design | no comments

We were tasked with creating an upstairs family room that balances comfort with creativity. Designed with everyday living in mind, this space brings together style and functionality. Whether it’s movie night, quiet reading, or a last minute homework session, every detail was chosen to make the room as livable as it is stylish.

The upholstery grounds the room, while the woven rattan light fixture adds a thoughtful textured touch, enhancing the overall space.

We selected Schuyler Samperton’s Benghal Stripe for the drapery fabric as a starting point. With a subtle variation to a classic stripe, this fabric brings depth and a tailored finish to the room.

The built-ins offer ample storage and shelf space, perfect for sentimental items & decorative home accessories. A plush wool rug anchors the room, adding warmth and texture.

A standout feature of this space is a cleverly integrated homework/crafting nook, which can be tucked away behind closed doors when not in use. With built-in cabinetry for even more storage, a pendant light for focused lighting, and a desk for focused work, the nook blends seamlessly.

Painted in a rich, dark hue, the nook takes on a moody vibe that feels both calming and creative. It is the perfect backdrop for focused work or quiet moments. The paint color is Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue.

We hope you enjoyed a glimpse into these two spaces that make family life both fun, functional and stylish!
