We have been working this year on the interior design of a women’s retail clothing store. It is a locally owned, one of a kind and it is going to be awesome! I am really excited about how cool it is going to be.
For example, our lighting is going to look like this:
Wallpaper like this:
Mirrors like this:
Millwork like this:
Cash Wrap like this:
Maybe you can start to get the picture. I can’t wait for it all to go in. But, you know what put the biggest smile on my face to date? This:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians)
This one is a little harder to read ”In all toil there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty” (Proverbs). The woodwork is filled with Bible verses to inspire. I first heard about this concept when I read Leah Richardson’s book: Interior Wisdom.
She talks about writing Bible verses on the interiors of her client’s homes before the sheet rock goes up. I thought it was a really neat idea, but then it slipped my mind. How cool that my client thought to do that as well. Establishing a firm foundation for your business is always a great idea. And, I know she has strong faith, because this is what the house/future retail boutique looked like the first time I saw it:
This was the interior, seriously. Talk about vision on our client’s part!
So, great progress is being made and the plan is for a grand opening in July. The original architecture of the home is being maintained.
The interiors pretty much had to be gutted, but the exterior footprint stays the same.
We will be sure to share final photos once the store is open for business. I can tell you, I am going to be one of the first customers in line to support this local business. I’ll be sure to share the details so you can be, too!
What an incredibly inspiring idea! I am going to be sure to add bible quotes to any construction projects that I work on. I love the concept and thank you for sharing!!
Laura
Thank you Laura- I love the idea, too and am also going to try to do this going forward!
The choices look amazing! I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together. Love that the store owner is preserving what she can of the house. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Kelli-
It is nice to see the preservation efforts- glad you appreciated them!
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE, all the things you have picked out for this space. Can’t wait to see the completed project. I especially love the scripture idea. I have Leah’s book and follow her blog as well. Unless the Lord builds the house, it’s builder’s labor in vain!
Thanks Sally- love the words of wisdom!
Thank you so much for the bible quotes idea. I’ve purchased “Interior Wisdom” right away. What a wonderful book. Also, your designs are beautiful!
thanks Vivian- so glad you are enjoying the book!
Heather….I was so moved by the scriptures in the construction process and Leah Richardson’s book, Interior Wisdom, that I ordered the book last week. I can’t wait for it to arrive. We are involved in a mission project in Mozambique and the book has given me ideas for the new church plants as they are being built! What a blessing to know how far reaching your blog really is!
Hope you liked it Mary Beth! I think her interiors are so calming!
