August 28, 2020 in Uncategorized | one comment

Earlier this month we attended the virtual awards ceremony announcing the winners from ASID’s (American Society of Interior Designers) inaugural Celebrating Design Texas Awards event. This awards competition, previously known as the Legacy of Design, recognizes the best design concepts in Texas. At this year’s statewide competition we won 3 design awards! We won 2nd place in the “Best Interior Design Residential: New Construction – Entire Residence (< 5000 square feet)”, “Best Interior Design Residential: New Construction – Entire Residence (>5000 square feet)”, and “Best Interior Design Residential: Child/Youth Bedroom.” We have previewed photos of these winning projects below.

Breathtaking views, cooler summer weather, and family ties were just some of the few selling points of building a home in Ennis, Montana. Rather than staying with their family members who have spent summers fly-fishing on the Madison River in Ennis for decades, the couple with a pair of Belgian Malinois dogs realized they needed their own space to enjoy long summer months recharging in the peaceful small town. A light filled floor plan, neutral color palette with a mix of rustic and modern elements define this Montana home with a compact footprint.

The guiding principles in this design were to stay to true the homeowner’s classic, chic and serene style. To create the illusion of a larger space, the home was designed with a light-filled, open floor plan. Boasting beautiful views and tons of light, the living room, dining room and kitchen open to one another, creating the illusion of a larger space. Lofty ceilings also helped make the space feel more vast. The ceilings in the living room and kitchen are 10 feet tall, and the dining room between them boasts a vaulted ceiling that is 23 feet high at its peak. The open floor plan and lofty ceilings are also paired with a simple palette of white walls, black window framing and warm wood accents, which allows the eye to focus on the lush exterior, essentially bringing the outside in.

To best capture the majestic mountains and the Madison River views that surround the Montana home, the design goal was for this summer respite to have a timeless blend of modern and rustic elements throughout.

When our longtime clients purchased a vacation home along the Texas coast, they wanted their home to have an inviting and memorable feel with punchy colors that fit the playful nature of the summer beach locale. As one of the anchors of this coastal home, the kitchen’s mix of watercolor hues, organic elements, and other beach house essentials helped define the design of this dynamite beach home kitchen. Ingredients like an eye-catching backsplash with a complementary painted island, woven accents, and lots of white create a combination that feels elegant while still casual enough to suit its coastal setting.

Our client’s master bedroom in their Texas beach home needed to have a soothing simplicity that highlighted the room’s natural light, dramatic vaulted ceilings, and sprawling water views. The bedroom is the perfect combination of restful and rejuvenating, thanks to its soothing neutrals, fiery splash of bright pinks and coastal textures.

One of the main priorities was to create a room in the home that offered plenty of extra places for guests to sleep, particularly for the home’s youngest guests. Our client’s vacation beach home was meant to be a place that the family could host their relatives and friends for long summer weekends and holidays. With entertaining being such a priority, the homeowners wanted one of their home’s bedrooms to be transformed into a bunk room for their daughters. Our design team was commissioned to transform a standard guest bedroom into a bold space that serves as a peppy headquarters for plenty of summer sleepovers.

Congratulations to all of the winners at this year’s Celebrating Design Texas Awards!
