Our August kicked off with an exciting surprise. We are on the cover of this month’s Texas Living magazine! In the issue, the magazine features our Villa Blanca project as part of their “Custom Homes of Texas” series. We have plenty of copies in the shop. We also have a link to the feature here.

This home is one of our most recognized projects. It has been featured in Good Housekeeping and was among this year’s selected homes for the Tribeza Interiors Tour.

Villa Blanca, as the homeowners so appropriately called their dream home, is a fitting name for this project in which a dark and dated home was transformed into a bright and airy space fit for entertaining. The homeowners, who run a successful Texas-based public affairs agency, needed their home to be an inviting and open space for the frequent fundraisers, events, and revolving door of family and friends they host in both their private and professional lives. In order to meet all of our client’s needs, the first design obstacle involved gutting and reorienting the kitchen to provide better flow with the ground floor’s tight footprint. Opening up the kitchen to the formal living room allowed the cramped space to feature two islands which help with traffic flow for entertaining and daily use. Once the bright and new foundation was in place, the home was infused with classic lines and a youthful flair to fit the style of the couple.

A reconfigured kitchen with custom features allowed for a more intimate, cozy den to be carved out for casual lounging. In the renovation, cocoa-stained wood beams were added throughout the kitchen, den, and formal living room to add in warmth and character to this dated spec home’s lackluster interiors.

Each remodeled room within the home has a cohesive flow yet its own distinct personality. Architectural elements, updated furnishings, and stylish colors were brought in to create a home with a clean, yet warm vibe, reminiscent of the West Coast sensibility that the young homeowner’s wanted for their Texas home.
