Before & After: Villa Blanca Family Room
November 08, 2019 in Before & After | no comments

We paid a visit to one of our favorite clients this week for a new project and it reminded us that we have yet to reveal this home’s new upstairs family room/playroom! In our Villa Blanca project, the downstairs underwent major renovations, but the upstairs of this home needed the same youthful update. In today’s blog post, we will share a drastic transformation of an upstairs loft space that will serve as the home’s upstairs family room/playroom.

Before

The upstairs loft served as the couple’s makeshift apartment as their downstairs was remodeled. It lacked the couple’s signature cozy, stylish, and inviting style.

After

This space is so bright and fresh now! To help with the bright feeling, the taupe walls were painted in Benjamin Moore Paper White. It is the perfect backdrop for the bright mix of pieces you will find in the space.

To anchor the room, we incorporated a large sectional in a durable, neutral Crypton fabric. It provides the perfect amount of comfortable seating. It also includes a sleeper sofa, which adds another place for guests to comfortably spend the night during visits.

On the sectional, we incorporated an eclectic mix of printed pillows. These all served as the main color story for the custom art piece above the sectional. The homeowner commissioned artist Taelor Fisher to create a custom piece of art for her family room. It brings in all of the shades of blue that you will find in the space.

The window treatments in a blue radish print add to the playful nature of the family room. Oversized deep blue lamps add even more interest to the space.

A custom built-in painted in Sherwin William’s Rain, offers plenty of storage in the room. The built in is carried all the way to the ceiling to maximize space and to avoid a dust trap on top of the cabinet. We selected round brass hardware to match the custom round detail of the cabinet doors flanking the TV.

Tucked in the corner of the space you will also find the homeowner’s home “gym.” Her Peloton bike and neatly organized equipment is hidden in the right corner of the space so that it is not the first thing you see when walking into the room.

We love this transformation and how it serves all of our client’s needs. If you have a space that needs some attention, give our team a call at 512-342-6899!
