Earlier this week Emily and Charissa headed downtown for our first site visit for a very exciting project: a luxury condo in the new Austin Proper Residences. If you are unfamiliar with the Proper Hotels, well then today’s blog is perfect for you!
Proper Hotels can be found in San Francisco and Santa Monica. This winter the luxury hotel brand is opening two new hotels: one in downtown L.A. and one in Austin (A Proper Hotel in Portland is slated for 2021.) The San Francisco Proper, the flagship hotel, opened in 2018 to rave reviews by Forbes, Travel + Leisure, Vanity Fair, and more.
Architectural Digest described the hotel as “Design that feels too too good, too creative, and too special for a mere hotel room” and “The Most Instagrammable Hotel in the US.” With interiors by design phenom Kelly Wearstler, the one-of-a-kind-hotels in creative hubs across the country offer “a looser kind of luxury”, with the top-notch service and world-class amenities.
At the Austin Proper Hotel, guests can expect “layers of textures and historical patterns in earthy tones, use of local woods and stones from nearby quarries, and art and decorative accessories by locals combined to create warm, sophisticated spaces with a residential feel, many with views of Shoal Creek and Lady Bird Lake.”
Also in true fashion, beyond imaginative interiors each Proper Hotel brings in local culture and the city’s most innovative chefs and mixologists. Austin’s own McGuire Moorman Hospitality is set to operate the Proper’s four dining concepts. The Proper’s restaurants include Peacock Mediterranean Grill for Israeli & Turkish-inspired fare, The Mockingbird for on-the-go bites, a poolside restaurant La Piscina, and Goldie’s an elegant cocktail bar. Wearstler posted an Instagram photo earlier this month of some of the tiles that she is picking out. In person, the wall is absolutely fabulous!
Atop the Austin Proper Hotel, you will find the Austin Proper Residences, which includes 20 floors of residences and penthouses curated with the finest luxury details and finishes, all selected by Kelly Wearstler.
Currently the Proper only offers residences in Austin and Carbon Beach in Malibu (aka Billionaire’s Beach). We met our new clients and future residents of the Austin Proper Residences at their luxury condo this week to measure and take photos so that we can source furnishings and decor for the space. Our client had already selected from Wearstler’s two signature bold-neutral palettes. We photographed their selection below.
