Interiors Tour: Wendy Wells Jewelry Store
August 23, 2019 in Interiors Tour | no comments

Last week we previewed the design of a charming jewelry boutique that won in the Retail Category at the 2019 ASID Legacy of Design Awards. Today we will tour more of the space!

Wendy had previously sold jewelry through trunk shows. This rented bungalow was set to be our client’s first storefront. As her first store, we wanted the exterior of the shop to be bright and inviting in order to encourage potential customers to step in.

We painted the exterior in a standout jewel-like teal color. To play off the jewel toned paint color, a fresh mix of bright, tropical landscaping provides plenty of punchy curb appeal.

Once inside, this charming shop has a colorful pop of wallpaper on the main wall, appropriately named “Kandi” in a mix of bold colors that play off the mix of fine jewelry.

The center of the shop offers plenty of space for customers to comfortably peruse and shop all of the unique jewelry designs, which is the main purpose and goal of this local jewelry shop. We wanted to create a focal point in the center of the shop, so we replaced the ceiling fan with a soft and textured chandelier. For added light, glass sconces provide even more interest to the shop and highlight the punchy new wallpaper.

Glass display cases and open shelving keep the space feeling open and inviting, while of course allowing shoppers to handle and view all of the products on sale. Plenty of light pours into the bungalow and reflects off the glass and marble furnishings in the charming bungalow.

Former cellphone display cases found on consignment were upcycled into chic, jewelry display cases. To stay within our set budget, we simply added new crystal hardware and gold leaf paint to give the cases a luxe makeover. They are a functional and creative way to display all of the fabulous jewelry.

Overall, the mix of punchy colors and upcycled pieces make this new jewelry shop sparkle with all of the functionality and demands a new retail business requires. Be sure to visit Wendy Wells in Austin on 3700 Kerbey Lane!
