Studio512 Segment: Easy Summer Decorating Tips
May 17, 2019 in As Featured On | no comments

Summer is right around the corner! The summer months are the perfect time to introduce cheerful, bright and playful colors and elements into your space. Just as we update our homes with seasonal decor in the fall and winter months, the same can be done for the summer season. On our latest Studio512 segment, Raquel shared some decor ideas on how you can lighten the look of your home for the warm-weather months with host Rosie Newberry. You can watch the full segment here or read along as we dive into our summer decorating tips.

     1. Splash in Color with Lighting & Accents.

Your accessories can add the perfect splash of color for summer. You can add in small pops of color with your accents, specifically with lighting. Lighting is the jewelry of the room so you can always have a little more fun with this accent.

One way to update the look of a lamp is with a printed lamp shade. You can either look for a lamp with a printed shade or our team can help you make a custom shade with any fabric of your choosing. It gives the lamp a completely new look and layers in a fun pop of color. Here is an example of a style you can order from the store.

2. Layer in Summer Inspired Treasures.

Pepper in summery accents into your current décor to make it feel appropriate for the season. You can bring in beach combing treasures like shells or playful accents like golden pineapples to make your home feel fresh and fun.

Adding in these elements can also make you feel like you are on a vacation, the perfect feeling for summer!

      3. Fill Your Fireplace.

When updating your home for the summer, don’t forget your fireplace. You won’t be stoking the flames for another few months. For now, stack leftover wood or position candles in your fireplace. You can also fill it with a large driftwood like in the project below or with large shells to make it feel appropriate for the season.

      4. Amp up Your Bar.

Creating a fun bar area for the summer drinks is a “refreshing” way to decorate for the summer. If you don’t have a formal bar area or a bar cart, you can use a side table as a styled bar space or a tray on a cocktail table for summer drinks. It is bright, fun, and also very practical for the hot summer months.

      5. Update Your Summer Scent.

Now that we have focused on all of the visual elements don’t forget to introduce a summer fragrance into your home. Ditch the cold weather fragrances for something more summer friendly. Candles and diffusers with a clean, crisp scent will help create a season-appropriate ambiance in your home. In the store, we have the best-selling Nest Fragrances like Bamboo and Ocean Mist & Sea Salt that can do just that. They are the perfect summer scent!
