When you ask artists, designers and design enthusiasts alike on where they draw inspiration, a common response tends to be travel or nature. Whether it is the colors or textures one can find in the great outdoors, nature inspires an overall sense of well-being. Who wouldn’t want to evoke that same feeling in the interiors of their home? This week on Studio512, Raquel shared some design tips on how you can incorporate nature-inspired or natural elements into your home to help it feel more collected and visually appealing.
Here are a few accents to look for that can give your home that coveted, layered look. To watch the segment, follow this link.
1. Luxe Lighting
We have said time and time again that lighting is the jewelry of a room. Look for lighting that has a mix of natural materials for a real statement. A popular material is natural stones on chandeliers. You will also find selenite as a popular addition to lamps. It can elevate the room and give just the right amount of glamour and sparkle without feeling too fussy.
2. Marble Details
Marble details aren’t just for kitchens or bathrooms. You can find so many chic side tables and accents that use marble. It is timeless and can brighten any space. Look for bowls, trays or other accent pieces that bring in marble.
3. Chic Shells
Shells do not have to be kitschy and they are not limited to a beach house. You can find furniture and accents made with shell that can add a fun statement to a space. The natural color tone of shell add various texture, color and interest to a space. From shell dishes to cabinets with shell details, shells can certainly be chic.
A shell framed mirror (seen above) and a cascading shell chandelier add a soft, ethereal feel to each space.
4. Hide Rugs/Fur Pillows
Hide rugs are fabulous to layer. Also, they are perfect for Texas! You can find nearly any shade or if you want a little drama we are always drawn to a zebra print on a hide rug. It can be really vibrant in a space. Also, who doesn’t love a textured pillow! These black sheepskin pillows add in a fun cozy, texture. If you love nature, but want a little more of a “vegan” or allergy free option look for nature inspired textiles. They can make your home feel just as layered.
5. Art pieces
Beyond your typical abstract pieces, you can find unique framed art pieces that display geodes, stones, plants or even feathers. Each is different and unique, which also gives your home a unique story and element that no one else has.
