We recently tackled a home office in Georgetown that is another fabulous example of a reimagined space. Our client works from home and she wanted her office to better suit her day to day work activities. We gave our client two design options: new office furniture or a large custom built in that would hide and organize all of her computer equipment and especially, all of the wires and cords. She opted for the second option, which was more of an investment, but it also better suited her needs than the furniture option. Here are some of the before and after photos.
BEFORE:
The office is small and had so many wires! It felt disorganized and chaotic. A way to manage all of the wires was a main priority for the space.
Like we said, so many wires didn’t make this space feel welcoming or inviting.
IN PROGRESS:
The custom built in we recommended included the shelves and a desk. This custom design created more of a seamless flow in the small office. There is now plenty of space to display accessories and store unsightly cords.
We also added an open iron pendant in an antique finish. The open lines of the fixture adds just enough detail without overpowering the small room.
AFTER:
This space feels stylish, collected and thoughtful now. We kept with a classic palette of serene colors for all of the accents. They add a fun splash of color to the all white built-ins.
In the cabinets underneath the shelving, there is a cord management system that helps calm the chaos of so many wires!
We also wanted to incorporate casual seating in the new office. A striped settee with a champagne toned mirror adds another chic vignette. Blue embroidered draperies frame the windows and add more of the blue accent into the space.
Doe printed pillows are a playful element. Even though the space is a home office, we wanted it to have the same special details that our client is drawn to and has incorporated throughout the other spaces in her home.
Our hopes for this office is that our client has a space that she feels excited to work in everyday. It makes us think of the quote “do what you love and you will never work another day in your life.” If you love where you work, that could help too!
