Before & After: Clarksville Eclectic Remodel
September 14, 2018 in Before & After | no comments

If you thought our last ‘Before & After‘ project was a transformation, you are in for another treat with today’s post. Our team was brought in to modernize a traditional home in Clarksville, an inviting neighborhood near downtown Austin. The project involved a full remodel of the entire first floor of the home, including the kitchen, living room, powder bath and more.

Beyond new finishes, flooring and paint, the home needed all new furniture as the items in the home felt heavy and dark.  Today we will share the entry and living room from this Clarksville remodel with you.

Before Entry:

The entry of the home fit the decor of the home. It was Tuscan, heavy, and dated.

Here are a few views from the entry ‘before’ the remodel.

The home had an eclectic mix of pieces. The walls were creamy yellow to match the traditional and Tuscan decor.

Before Living Room:

The main living room also had dark details and traditional furnishings. It didn’t seem to fit the energy of a family with 3 young daughters. It needed to feel more youthful, bright and happy!

After Entry

Our client had eclectic taste and we wanted that to shine through all of the selections.

The walls were all painted in Benjamin Moore Vapor Trails and the ceilings were painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove. This instantly freshened up the entry along with the sleek new gray flooring. The decor was replaced with bright art, a fun bench, and colorful printed pillow.

At the end of the entry, we replaced the chest with a series of framed agates to sit above our client’s tufted bench. To make it look like new, we recovered it in a vibrant jewel-toned velvet.

The series of framed agates not only introduced more fun colors to the entry, but also a thoughtful nod to our client’s love for gemstones. She is a talented jewelry designer that creatively uses natural stones to create unique jewelry pieces. This new entry felt so much more welcoming and reflective of our client’s taste and style.

After Living Room

As you walk through the entry, you step foot into the living room. It is a night and day transformation! Sleek new windows brighten the space along with a fresh coat of paint and sleek furnishings. Pops of aqua, turquoise and other shades of blue can be found in the art, pillows and lamps.

Our goal was not only to brighten and freshen the living room, but to also select timeless pieces. The more ‘trendy’ or eclectic elements are the accessories/accents, which are easier to part with if the homeowner’s style evolves.

An oversized grey leather ottoman is a durable and chic addition to the living room. A pair of aqua printed chairs also help jazz up the living space. The rug features a graphic print in a mix of slate gray and cream for a soft, timeless feel.

Of course we have to mention one of the real style statements of the space. The fabulously renovated fireplace! It is painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove and paired with luxe tile.

Youthful details and a mix of patterns and color give the new living room an effortless feel.

The downstairs feels so much more age-appropriate for this family. Next week we will share even more ‘before and after’ photos with you from this project.
