Northern California Trip: Home Decor Shopping in San Francisco
October 20, 2017 in Historic Homes, Regional Style, Uncategorized | no comments

I mentioned a few weeks ago I had just taken a trip to Northern California.  I am grateful we were there just before the fires broke out, but feel very badly for all those impacted by the blaze.  We started our trip in Carmel, made a brief stop in the wine country area, and then finished up in San Francisco.

Carmel is a fantastic, quaint town for those who like a quiet holiday.  Lots of shopping and opportunities to drink wine.  The streets are full of great boutiques and Ocean Ave. has fabulous homes up and down the street, including a Frank Lloyd Wright one right on the edge of a cliff.  You feel like you are in a tucked away village that has not changed with time.

There is also a beautiful mission right along the edge of the Pacific ocean.   I was training for a marathon during my visit and basically managed to run the whole town!  It is a great way to sight see!

Upon leaving Carmel, we stopped for lunch at the historic John Steinbeck home which included a docent tour of the home and its features.

On our way to San Fran, we detoured to the Concannon Winery, the oldest family run winery in the United States.

The grounds were amazing, as was the facility.

Our last stop was downtown San Francisco. We had a couple of days to make our way around town and lucky for me, my mom and sister are great sports about me dragging them all over to visit home stores.  I did try to butter them up by starting the day at Tartine with coffee and pastries!

We did not make it everywhere, but here are a few of my favorites from the Sacramento street area.

1) March

2) Hudson Grace

3) Sue Fisher King

4) Found by Maja (love the wall color- Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball)

5) Anthem

And, while we were in the area, we swung by Caitlin Wilson and Serena & Lily.

All in all, a great trip that was blessed with perfect sunshine and blue skies with puffy clouds.  Much better than the summer I went to San Francisco and spent the whole time in the fog and cold! I cannot wait for the next time I get to go back, but if you get to go and love home decor like I do, be sure to check out these shops!
