Continuing on last’s week before and after reveal of a sophisticated masculine living room, this week we will share a masculine master bedroom transformation.
The homeowner had a clearly defined style. He wanted masculine and sophisticated selections to match the modern design of his home in a private community near the Fazio Canyons Golf Course in Barton Creek.
BEFORE:
The master bedroom had great space and height! The dark, heavy traditional furniture looked dwarfed in a room this scale. The homeowner wanted to incorporate the same color scheme of blue accents (from the main rooms), in his bedroom. He also wanted to incorporate masculine textures like leather and hides for durability.
AFTER:
Such a transformation! The new metal and leather canopy bed visually fills the space without it feeling heavy. The canopy style also draws your eye up, which was perfect for this space and its tall ceilings. As an added feature, the bed can be configured in 4 different ways, which gives the homeowner versatility.
We also brought in bold graphic blue draperies to frame the large window. We went with fuller panels to fit the scale and height of the room.
The wood canopy bed is stained in a warm medium brown finish with an antiqued bronze metal finish metal canopy top. The tufted caramel leather is a strong, classic backdrop for the steely blue bed linens.
The dark walnut nightstands with mirrored fronts offer proper storage and scale next to the canopy bed. The builder placed switches next to the bed for the homeowner’s convenience, but it precluded us from hanging mirrors or art above the nightstands. Grand navy porcelain lamps solved that challenge by adding a punch of color and volume to fill the space above the modern nightstands.
Three large euros in a steely blue linen and one long lumbar pillow with a faux bois print give a crisp and tailored look to the bed. This pillow configuration is a good rule-of-thumb for a king size bed.
At the foot of the bed, we selected a sturdy grey brindle hide bench with iron detail for even more masculine appeal.
BEFORE:
Another request was for the room to offer additional seating. Our client had more than enough space, but the dark traditional leather sofa added very little style to the room.
AFTER:
A sophisticated pair of chairs with a sharp blue Greek pattern bring in more pops of blue, while also providing proper conversational seating. The rugged wood starburst mirror above brings in just the right amount of texture and interest to the masculine space.
We incorporated the homeowner’s large leather chair for seating by the window. A bright white linen pillow with pewter studs brighten the dark, oversized chair.
It is hard to believe that this spacious master bedroom was transformed with furniture. Consult with a professional to get the proper fit and style for your home. If you are interested in our design services, our questionnaire can be filled out here!
