What fun for us to start off the new year with a new magazine feature! Check out Heather Scott Home & Design in the latest issue (January/February) of HGTV Magazine’s feature: “Wow! What Color is That?”
The magazine has featured one of our most popular rooms from the blog (and on Houzz): an open plan dining room with a dramatic wall color.
Rooms with bold colors are always popular, even if most of us are not ‘daring’ enough to do it in our own home. That fact alone should make you rethink your decision to always go neutral. A less used room (like a formal dining), is a great place to experiment with a splash of boldness. And, as we have mentioned previously, paint is the least expensive channel to experiment with.
The color we used in this room was…Benjamin Moore, Ac-24, Charlotte Slate.
And, yes I am sure that is the right color! Even if it looks different when you try it.
Also, the wonderful drapery panels were a Duralee fabric by Thomas Paul which has since been discontinued. It was fabulous with stags and trees. Unfortunately, I have no comparable fabric to suggest in its place.
Do pick up a copy of the magazine while it is on newsstands. There are several other colors in the article. This feature (“What Color is That?”) always pushes me outside my comfort zone, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Check it out and see if it is time for you to reconsider what colors you chose for your home!
