Hopefully you caught last week’s post on the new build family room we decorated on the north side of town, this week we go south, almost to Driftwood. Needless to say, I have put a lot of miles on my car this month!
Before:
I do not have any ‘before’ photos, but this is a photo of the same plan by the builder. Our client’s house was essentially the same as this spec home, only she selected a white, black and grey color scheme when choosing her materials at the design center.
After:
Similar to last week’s post, we were able to start this project with a fresh slate (other than the sofa end tables). Our clients were moving from a much smaller home and now have a lot of square footage to fill.
Like last week’s client, this new homeowner also did not want ‘color’, but she did want some pops of fuchsia in a few accents (such as florals and pillows). Her husband was easy going had no complaints about the pink, as long as that was “what she wanted” (a good sign for a young marriage!).
This family room was very large, so we had a custom 13’x15′ sisal rug made for the room. A bigger rug helps a room feel more cohesive. The fan was swapped for an elegant light fixture which was placed on a dimmer switch to improve the room’s ambiance in the evening.
A single bench seat cushion on the sofa helps add to the clean, uncluttered look of the room. A chaise was placed by fireplace to provide a cozy reading spot.
Our team also replaced the builder grade pendant lights over the kitchen island with over-scale pendants to add a bit
of a ‘wow’ factor to the kitchen. You can see one of the two pendants in this photo:
Hope you have enjoyed seeing what has been happening north and south of Austin this summer. We have also had a lot of projects ‘in between’. Stay tuned for more to come in following weeks!
