In today’s before and after we are looking at a traditional home which has a formal living and dining room right off the entry.
This week we are going to look at the ‘living’ room and next week we will reveal the dining room.
BEFORE:
As you can see, the living room was not getting any use and had become wasted space.
A room with no purpose ends up become a catch-all for unused furniture pieces and cast offs. Square footage is just too valuable for that!
The homeowners thought they would get more use out of the room if it became a ‘wine room’ where they could have friends over, play some music, and enjoy a glass of wine together. Sounded like a great idea to us!
AFTER:
After a fresh coat of paint and new flooring, we installed drapery panels, a cozy rug and four fun chairs for relaxing with friends.
Three mirrors helped to fill the long wall on the right and reflect light from the window opposite. Previously the room had no ceiling light, so we added a chandelier for mood lighting.
The homeowners had no trouble filling their new bar with wine and other adult beverages!
A happy ending for an empty room. Now it will be filled with friends and laughter and hopefully bring years of joy to the homeowners!
We would love to help you bring more joy to your home. Email us at info@heatherscotthome.com for more information about our design services! And, don’t forget to check back next week for a look at the dining room opposite this room!

What’s the color of the paint on the wall in the after photo?
Hi Kimberly! It is James River Gray by Benjamin Moore.
Lovely! This is so inspiring! Do you mind sharing where you got the chairs please?
Hi Yinka. You can order items through our store! This exact chair style has been discontinued.
Hi, my husband found your blog site with photo of this wine room and we are so in love with the style of chairs. I realize they’ve been discontinued, but could you recommend where we can find something similar? Your store doesn’t have furniture from what I can tell. Thanks. Sherri
Hi Sherri! Thank you so much for your kind words. I will email you some similar styles.
