It has been another busy week for us at Heather Scott Home & Design. We installed a client’s family room and office out in the Hill Country, put the finishing touches on a new Austin retail boutique, Found, and logged many design hours on a new pilot TV show for HGTV that is filming here in town.
We are keeping busy with new projects, but I wanted to share some photos from a project we finished a few months ago. A client purchased a home that needed some significant remodeling. Upstairs, the “kids area”, also needed a few touches to update the space and make it usable for their family.
The room before was basic beige. We selected a bold paint color and added a new rug, window treatments, wall art/lamps and play table/chairs. The color scheme is blue and UT orange (we are in Austin, after all!).
I personally really like the roman shades with trim. They have blackout lining for movie watching/video game playing.
For a kids space sometimes you can get away with a big cost save by using fresh paint in a dramatic color and a really large area rug to cover the floor.
We continued the color flow into the son’s room, which is done in light blue, dark blue and accents of red/orange. Just right for a NY Yankees fan!
The roman shades in here were done in a masculine, but youthful, graphic fabric from Serena & Lily. Don’t forget little boys deserve a great room as much as little girls do.
I hope these photos have given you some design inspiration for updating kids spaces. It is the details, like the paint, wall decor and window shades, that can really bring character to the rooms.
Tonight Raquel, Jacob (her husband), Scott & I will be headed off to the Grand Opening party for Found. We will be sharing some photos and a story in our upcoming e-newsletter. If you are not subscribed to that, head over here and get on the list!
Love this Heather! Looks fantastic!
Thanks Liz! Appreciate it!
