One of the benefits of having the retail store is getting to know clients over time. One of our regular customers contacted us about a year ago to say she was building a dental office from the ground up and wanted to use our design services.
Sometimes ‘commercial’ work can be less than exciting, but her goal was to make this office feel like a home, and a place she wanted to go to everyday. I was on board with that idea, so off we went!
Lobby:
We selected millwork (wainscot, plank ceiling, beams), stone fireplace and original art to make the lobby area feel welcoming. Her last office was painted a yellow/gold and she said she was so tired of it, she just wanted something light and cool. She also gravitated to a Rough Luxe look, so we mixed in a lot of metal, wood and stone.
Coffee bar area at entry
Kids’ play space in lobby with hidden bookcase in tree, honeycomb desk and gaming system. This was all custom created for this new office.
Check in/out area. Isn’t it the most calming dental office you have ever seen? Toys for the kids are in baskets under the bench.
Hallway- the flooring throughout is wood look tile for longevity. The walls have stone applied. The halls have metal sconces which are very rustic. They have an acid washed finish and the ‘crystals’ look like white stones.
Operatory: Each client area is light, bright and comfortable with all the latest technology, but also a personal touch with decorative mirrors.
Employee Breakroom: The employee breakroom was designed to seat up to 12 at a time. We have a steel table and two bench seats in Sunbrella fabric, as well as dining chairs in leather.
The new office has 3 bathrooms, each with unique paint, mirrors, lights and tile work. There are a lot of city requirements for commercial baths, but that does not mean they can not look good. We tried our best to find choices that met the requirements but also looked special.
Bath 1: I love this accent tile and the marble throughout
Bath 2: White, bevel edge subway tile, marble counters and wood sconces.
Bath 3: Limestone wall tile with decorative mosaic, antiqued tile mirror and metal sconces.
If you live in the Austin area and need a dentist that you will feel comfortable going to, be sure to let me know and I will give you our client’s details. They not only have a lovely office, they are also a lovely team with which to work!
Hi Heather,
The dental office is just amazing. Never before have I seen anything so appealing! I would like the name of the dentist…..I’m still searching for a good one. Who could resist going to this office….even a root canal wouldn’t seem so bad in such a lovely setting! I love reading the blog and keeping up with your many accomplishments. Can’t wait for the new Parade of Homes show!

Hi, I really like what you have done with this office, I think I missed your email that had the details for this office. Could you send it to me again? Thanks!!
The darker blue grey color. That is in hallway with that white bench? Is that oystershell? It looks so much darker

What is the darker blue/grey paint? Stunning office, great job
If I am correct in the area you are referencing is done in Benjamin Moore’s 1582 Deep River. So glad you like it!
Thank you Susan! It is Benjamin Moore AC-17 Sea Pine. It is really pretty in person.
The deep river was in another area, which I do not think was in the photos, so in retrospect, I think you want Sea Pine. Either one looks great, though!
Your design is amazing. What tile flooring (color and brand) did you use? Did you use carpet? If so, what brand and color? Thank you for providing such inspirational pictures
Thank you Bridgett. The tile is from Interceramic and is called Doga Cocoa. You can google it and find it anywhere. It looks like dark wood but is very durable!
What is the floor and wall tile that you used for bath 3? I love them together.
The flooring is the same throughout the space. It is a dark brown wood look tile by Interceramic called Doga Cocoa. The wall tile is a limestone. It was a vein cut version in a grey/beige color. So glad you like it!
This is stunning. The whole thing! Question as to what size the pillows are on the bench in the hallway and where are they from?
Hi Jenni-
So glad you like the space! The pillows are 26″ x 20″ and are a natural linen with hand applied silver bead work. They are available through our retail shop. You can email us at: info@heatherscotthome.com for more information!

This is absolutely the most beautiful dental office I have ever seen!! I definitely want to contact this dentist! Who is it and where is the practice located? Thanks!
Thanks Ali! We will email the office contact details.
All the best!
I really appreciate your willingness to share your paint colors and flooring. How were the sinks/countertops made? Were they had one piece you purchased or were they built in with a counter and sink installed? I would live as much detail as possible.
Hi there! The countertops in each bathroom were custom built on sight with either a silestone slab supported by the wall or a carrera marble slab.
One more question. What is the name of the stone you chose for the reception desk and what is the material used for the writing surface of the reception desk?
The reception desk counter top is Caesarstone London Grey 5000, and stone around the desk is a stone face painted in Benjamin Moore Deep River.
I really liove the office I was hoping you could share the company that makes the cultured stone on the operatory wall. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words! The stone is a stone face with sheet rock painted in Benjamin Moore Deep River.
did you use a chair rail or pencil liner and what is the mosaic you used .Beautiful
We used a ceramic chair rail in the white bath and then the other bath had two pencil liners with the mosaic in between. The mosaic was a noche travertine 1×1. Thank you!
Could you please tell me the White color you used on the chair rails and below, with the Sea Pine walls? Thanks. I just love your work and plan to copy it for my Dental Hygiene Center.
Hi Linda. Thank you for contacting us! We used Benjamin Moore White Dove. It is one of our favorites.
The colors and tile and everything are beautiful!
What is the color in Bath #1? And do you know the brand or name of the accent tile in there? I love, love, love it!
Hi Melinda.
The wall color is Bejamine Moore’s Ice Blue. I do not recall the name of the mosaic tile, it is a marble and glass tile. I do know it came from Interceramic tile. You can google that and see if they still list it on their website!
Thank you!
Where did you get the metal sconces in Bathroom #3? I really like them and I can’t find them.

Hi there, I am in the process of replacing my floor at my Dental office and I like the flooring you used, but I have a question, it’s noisy to walk over the tile I have carpet now so is very quiet, just wandering how the sound will be thorough the office..Thanks
Hi JoseMario, thank you for your inquiry! The flooring is Interceramic Doga Cocoa and they are wood-like planks. It is pretty quiet walking on it. Hope that helps!
Hi Heather, thank you so much for your reply, I have another question hope you can help. I have been looking for the Doga Cocoa wood-like plank, but I only find the ceramic tile. Could you tell me where did you bought the wood like plank, I would really appreciate that, thanks again. JoseMario
Hi JoseMario,
You can purchase the style we used from Interceramic. Here is the link! We used the 9 x 36 size. http://interceramicusa.com/products/detail/doga/184620
If you type ‘Doga’ in the search bar on Interceramics homepage, you can see the other color varieties. That should help!
Thank You!!!!
Do you happen to remember what white subway tile you used on the bathroom??
Hi Melanie! We used Interceramic 3×6 Brite for the white subway tile. I hope that helps!
Beautiful design Heather….so many great ideas and paint colors! Would you please share the Dentist info? My husband is also a Dentist and has a couple of questions about a few things he wants to chat with her about (tv type, etc.)….thx so much.
