The last two days have been so much fun! Exhausting, but fun. We just started the installation of the Southern Living Custom Showcase House in North Austin, Texas. The home will be on tour for a charity fundraiser beginning February 8th.
Heather Scott Home & Design has been in charge of all the decorating and the furnishing for the home. Silverton Custom Homes has done a beautiful job on the finish detail. There is still a way to go, but here are a few ‘sneak peek’ pictures of the house, nearing completion!
You enter the home into the great room and dining area. The sliding doors go out to an amazing patio with beautiful, lake views.
A close up view of the dining table with some beautiful pillows for the settee. I love the contrast fabric on the back of the settee which you can see in the picture above.
There is still a bit of work being done in the kitchen, but you can tell by this photo that it is going to be a very special place to spend time with your family!
The “main” kitchen is supplemented by not only an expansive walk in pantry, but also a “laundry” area that doubles as another prep area. You won’t believe the number of cabinets and shelves in this room for storage! We have an island being made by The Gilded Stag Custom Furniture which will go below the hanging basket lights.
I was really excited about how well the herringbone floor turned out. We had a hard time finding bricks for the floor in the right color way. These look great with the backsplash.
The house also has incredibly detailed tilework in every room. This is the shower ceiling in one of the guest bathrooms.
We’ve spent hours at the house the past two days just getting started. Here is a picture of Emily steaming the curtains (and bedding). This can take hours! Scott helped me hang the art and manage many other tasks, especially anything involving strength! Thanks to Allison and Marshall for making multiple trips with their SUVs full of art, lamps and pillows.
And just to give you an idea of how many pieces of furniture were brought to the house, these are just a few of the boxes we emptied on the first day!
I hope you’ve seen enough to tempt you to make the drive out to Lago Vista. The house really is beautiful and it has been such a great experience working with Silverton to finish the home together. I can’t wait for the tour to begin this February 8th.
