Mirror Mate Frames & Austin Monthly’s Best
July 26, 2013 in Before & After | no comments

Back in February, I shared with you a Before & After: A “Preppy” Update in which I updated a master bedroom to feel fresh, more relaxing, and have a “preppy” feel.

Well, I recently worked on the same couple’s master bathroom, and I have to share with you a couple of images of how great it turned out with just a few minor updates!

To have the master bedroom and bathroom flow well together, we stuck with the same color scheme of lilac and navy.

    Here is a before image:

The homeowners did not want to make any significant changes to the bathroom, but they did want it to be lighter.  They had existing oil rubbed bronze lights and faucets, but did not want to go to the expense to change out everything (you know how that domino rolls- then the glass shower door handles, shower faucet, then the door handles, hinges, etc).

We decided the most cost effective option would be paint, a soft grey tone with a hint of lilac, a custom roman shade in navy and some frames for the existing mirrors.

We custom ordered these transformative mirror frames from Mirror Mate. They are extremely easy to order and hang, and as you can see, they have a major impact on a frameless mirror!

You might think you should select a dark bronze frame to match the faucets, etc, but in an effort to lighten up the room I chose this clean, silver frame.  Close up it has a brushed look and underneath the silver is a bit of a bronze, so it ties well with the existing hardware.

These mirrors gave us a lot of bang for the buck, so I wanted to share information on the resource, Mirror Mates.  It is a little intimidating, but very easy once you use their measuring worksheet. If you have any questions, the staff at Mirror Mate is exceptionally helpful and they are willing to answer any questions (we know this, because we called a couple of times!).

Secondly, you choose which frame will best complement your space. From ornate to simple, Mirror Mate has a variety of mirrors and in a variety of finishes.  Very flexible for all design styles.

Once you order, you get the frames in about 7 business days!

We had a professional hang the actual frames, although I helped and would be comfortable doing it again.  If you are doing it at home, Mirror Mate has videos and instructions that are very helpful and will assist you in your mirror makeover!

You can see in the video below, that just about anyone can do it!
